We Started My Family Friend Because We Couldn't Find It Ourselves.
My Family Friend was founded by Devon and Michael — a couple who saw firsthand how much a simple, caring conversation can change someone’s day.
Our Story
Every day, in our own lives and interactions, we noticed the same thing — people genuinely want to connect. They want to share what’s going on, be heard, and feel like someone cares. That desire doesn’t fade with age. If anything, it grows stronger.
When we saw loneliness take hold of our own aging family members, we realized that connection wasn’t a luxury — it was something they needed and deserved. We searched for a service that could provide that consistent, friendly presence. We couldn’t find one that felt right.
So we built it ourselves — two husbands, a minority-owned and disabled veteran-owned small business, and a belief that no one should have to feel alone.
My Family Friend exists to give others what was so difficult for us to find — a warm, caring voice that shows up every week, without fail. No apps. No complicated technology. Just a real person who genuinely enjoys the conversation. My Family Friend is a proud minority-owned and disabled veteran-owned small business based in Winchester, Virginia.
What We Believe
These four values guide every call, every connection, and every decision we make.
Empathy
We lead with compassion in everything we do — from how we train our callers to how we listen to our subscribers.
Connection
Genuine human connection is at the heart of our service. Every call is an opportunity to make someone feel less alone.
Trust
Our subscribers and their families trust us with something precious — their time and their wellbeing. We take that seriously.
Community
We believe everyone deserves to feel like they belong. My Family Friend is built on the idea that community doesn’t require proximity.
